I would like to send one meeting invite to schedule a recurring meeting for the 8th of every month except when it falls on a Saturday or Sunday. Then it should be scheduled on the next Monday? Is this possible?

    Hello Stacy

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

I understand you'd like a recurring meeting on the 8th of each month that automatically moves to the following Monday when the 8th falls on a weekend.

Unfortunately, Outlook does not support this type of conditional recurrence. You can create a monthly meeting on the 8th, but Outlook cannot automatically move weekend occurrences to the next business day.

    Workaround:

    1. Create a recurring meeting for Day 8 of every month.
    2. If the 8th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, open that occurrence only.
    3. Move it to the following Monday and select Send Update.

This creates an exception for that occurrence while keeping the rest of the series unchanged.

Classic Outlook cannot express “the 8th, but move it to Monday when the 8th is a weekend” as one automatic recurrence rule; create a monthly series on the 8th, then move each affected occurrence individually.

    Create the meeting series

    1. In Calendar, select New Meeting.
    2. Add the attendees, subject, location, and meeting time.
    3. Select Meeting > Recurrence or press Ctrl+G.
    4. Under Recurrence pattern, select Monthly.
    5. Choose Day 8 of every 1 month.
    6. Set the recurrence range, select OK, and then select Send.

Classic Outlook supports monthly recurrences on a fixed date or a relative weekday, but these are separate patterns; there is no conditional pattern that changes a fixed-date occurrence when it lands on a weekend.^1^ The underlying recurrence model likewise distinguishes an absolute monthly date from patterns such as the first or second Monday.^2^

    Move each weekend occurrence

For every month in which the 8th is Saturday or Sunday:

    1. Open that occurrence from the calendar.
    2. When prompted, choose to open only this occurrence, not the entire series.
    3. Change its date:
      • Saturday the 8th → Monday the 10th
      • Sunday the 8th → Monday the 9th
    4. Select Send Update so attendees receive the revised date.

This creates an exception to the recurring series. Editing an occurrence changes only that meeting; editing the series changes the recurrence as a whole.^3^

For a long-running series, review and adjust the weekend dates periodically. Outlook will not calculate those Monday moves automatically, and a separate “second Monday” recurrence would not reliably represent the rule because the Monday after the 8th can be either the second Monday or, in some calendar arrangements, another relative occurrence.
