Using Outlook for iOS in educational settings for communication and organization
Hi,
Thank you for the detailed reply. I have already completed all of the suggested steps, and the issue persists:
- I removed all accounts and added them back one at a time, testing the badge after each addition. The issue returned.
- Searching for isread:no shows no unread messages in any folder (Archive, Junk Email, Deleted Items, Drafts or custom folders) in any account.
- I disabled notifications for all accounts, force-closed Outlook, restarted the iPhone and re-enabled notifications. No change.
- I tested both Badge Count settings (All and Focused Inbox). The behavior is the same.
I also checked all mail accounts directly with their providers; there are no unread messages anywhere.
To be clear, the problem is limited to the push notification badge in Outlook for iOS. The badge is correct whenever the app is open and synced, and Outlook for Mac with the same accounts never shows the issue. The extra count of 4 only appears when a new message triggers a push notification while the app is in the background.
Since every client-side step has been exhausted, this appears to be a stale unread count in the Outlook mobile notification service. Could this be escalated to the Outlook mobile engineering team, or could the notification registration or badge count for my device be reset on the service side? I can provide app logs or a screen recording if needed.
All the best,
