Email address gets blocked when I send email to a group of contacts

On several occasions, my outlook.com email address is blocked when I send out an email to several contacts set up in contact groups. I need to do this fairly frequently, so it is getting annoying to have to unblock my me email address every time. How can I stop this please? I am not sending out Spam, but valid information that my contacts need to know.

Even legitimate group emails can hit Outlook.com’s sending limits. Try fewer recipients per message, though daily limits still apply.

What exact message appears when you’re blocked, and how do you unblock the account? Also, roughly how many people are in the group?

This usually happens because Outlook.com treats repeated group sends as bulk sending and can temporarily block sending. To reduce how often this happens:

    1. Send to smaller batches instead of one large contact group. Each recipient in a group counts toward sending activity, and smaller groups are less likely to trigger a temporary block.
    2. Check the addresses in the contact group and remove any old or invalid recipients. Invalid addresses can contribute to delivery failures and spam-style signals.
    3. Create a small test contact list with only 2–3 active addresses and send a short message from Outlook.com on the web. If that works, add more recipients gradually to identify whether a specific address or group is causing the problem.
    4. If one contact group fails but a newly created group with the same active recipients works, recreate the affected contact group.
    5. If the account gets blocked, unblock it by resetting the password. Also check whether the mailbox or OneDrive storage is full, because a full mailbox can prevent sending and receiving.
    6. If the block is tied to a non-delivery report, review the error details:
      • Mailbox full / Quota exceeded: the recipient must reduce mailbox usage.
      • Host unknown / Domain lookup failed: correct the recipient address.
      • Blocked / listed in spam filter: the recipient’s provider may need to unblock the sending source.
    7. For new Outlook.com accounts, sending quota can be temporarily lower until account credibility is established.

If the block continues even after cleaning the group and sending in smaller batches, use the Outlook.com sender support path mentioned in the non-delivery report or contact Outlook.com support.

The error confirms an automatic anti-spam suspension, but doesn’t confirm that your account’s age caused it.

Check that recipients are saved in Outlook.com >> People, and keep your recovery details current: https://account.microsoft.com/security

These steps may help, but cannot guarantee future blocks will stop. Microsoft’s guidance: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/sending-limits-in-outlook-com
