Copilot Voice on Windows does not currently provide a documented command that directly creates a Microsoft To Do task; the closest PC-only solution is to control the Microsoft To Do app with Windows 11 Voice Access.
PC-only voice workflow with Windows Voice Access
Voice Access is available in Windows 11 version 22H2 and later. It can open and control applications and dictate text using on-device speech recognition, including without an internet connection.^1^
- Set up Voice Access
- Open Settings → Accessibility → Speech.
- Turn on Voice access.
- Complete the initial language and microphone setup if prompted.
- Open Microsoft To Do by voice
- Say: “Open Microsoft To Do.”
- Voice Access supports the
Open <app name>command. If it cannot identify the app directly, it opens Windows Search and places numbered labels over the results; say the displayed number for Microsoft To Do.^2^
- Select the task-entry field
- Say “Click Add a task” if Voice Access recognizes that control.
- If it displays numbered overlays, say the number shown over Add a task.
- Dictate the task
- Speak the task text, such as:
- “Buy printer paper tomorrow.”
- “Call the accountant Friday at ten A M.”
- Say “Press Enter” to save it.
- Speak the task text, such as:
If selecting Add a task by name is unreliable, keep Microsoft To Do active and use its Ctrl+N shortcut to start a new task.^3^ Voice Access can operate the keyboard through its keyboard-interaction controls; alternatively, press Ctrl+N, dictate the task, and say “Press Enter.”
What Copilot Voice can do
On Windows, Copilot supports dictation, read-aloud, and spoken conversations, but Microsoft’s documented voice actions do not include creating Microsoft To Do tasks.^4^
You can enable hands-free activation in the Microsoft Copilot app under … → Settings → General → Listen for “Hey Copilot.” However, this opens a Copilot voice conversation; it does not add a task directly to To Do. The documented actions cover activities such as calendar summaries, inbox assistance, brainstorming, search, and explanations.[^5^](https://support.microsoft.com/microsoft-365-copilot/how-hey-copilot-wake-word-works-in-microsoft-365-copilot#what-can-hey-copilot-do "How "Hey Copilot" wake word works in Microsoft Copilot")
Therefore, for fully PC-based task entry today, Windows Voice Access controlling the Microsoft To Do desktop app is the supported practical approach rather than a Copilot-to-To Do voice integration.
