I have a ms 365 acccount that I pay for every month yet I cannot access Excel or any of the other programs because when I attempt to activate the account I get and error that someone else is already logged in. I've logged out completely from the account and still get the same error. Can I get a human to help me with this?

Use Microsoft’s Get Help contact page to request a support agent for the activation problem; after describing the issue, select Get help, then Contact Support when offered to access the available chat or regional support options.^1^

    Before contacting support

    Have these details ready:

    • The Microsoft account used for the monthly subscription—do not post the address publicly.
    • The exact activation error and any error code.
    • Whether the device is Windows, Mac, iPhone, or iPad.
    • A screenshot of the error with personal information hidden.

Check Services & subscriptions while signed in to the paying account. Microsoft 365 should appear there as active. If the expiration or renewal status is incorrect, raise it as an account and billing issue with the agent.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID]'re-still-getting-notifications-after-renewing-or-buying-microsoft-365 "A subscription notice appears when I open a Microsoft 365 application | Microsoft Support")

    Try the device-specific repair

Since signing out completely did not resolve it, do not repeat the ordinary sign-out process.

    Windows 10 or 11

    1. Open the Get Help app from Start.
    2. Search for Microsoft 365 activation troubleshooter.
    3. Run it on the same PC where Office is installed.
    4. Follow its prompts, reopen Excel, and check File → Account for activation status.

The activation troubleshooter is supported on Windows 10 and later.^3^

If the troubleshooter finds multiple Office installations, remove only the version no longer used through Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features, restart Windows, and retry activation. Multiple installed copies can conflict with activation.^3^

    Mac

    1. Quit every Office application.
    2. Open Spotlight, search for Keychain, and open Keychain Access.
    3. Search for Office and delete the Office data license entry.
    4. Reopen Excel and activate it with the account whose subscription appears under Services & subscriptions.

Microsoft’s Mac activation guidance documents resetting the stored Office credential when activation fails.^4^

    iPhone or iPad

If the message occurs in the iOS apps:

    1. Open Settings → Excel.
    2. Under RESET, select Reset Excel.
    3. Enable Delete Login Credentials.
    4. Reopen Excel and sign in with the subscribed account.

If that does not clear it, delete—not merely offload—the Microsoft apps from Settings → General → iPhone Storage, restart the device, reinstall the apps one at a time, and sign in with only the subscribed account.^5^

While waiting for support, the free browser versions of Excel and other Office apps are available at Office.com.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID]'re-still-getting-notifications-after-renewing-or-buying-microsoft-365 "A subscription notice appears when I open a Microsoft 365 application | Microsoft Support")
