Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Yes. For Microsoft 365 personal subscriptions, payment methods are region-based. If the subscription was originally purchased with a card from one country/region, a card issued in a different country/region might not be accepted for that existing subscription.
What to do:
- Check whether only the card details need updating.
- If the card is from the same country/region, update it at Payment options: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments
- Select View or edit card, enter the updated details, and save.
- If the new card is from a different country/region:
- Change the account country/region first under Your info > Edit profile info.
- For new payment methods, Microsoft states the country must be changed before adding the card.
- For an existing Microsoft 365 personal subscription, changing region usually does not move the active subscription to the new country.
- If the subscription still will not accept the new card:
- Let the current subscription expire, or cancel it if possible.
- Then purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription using the new country/region and the new card.
- Also verify the card details exactly match the card and billing record.
- Name, address, postal code, expiration date, and CVV must be correct.
- If the postal code is rejected, try it with and without spaces.
