Unable to renew expired subscription as won't let me change country in payment method following move

I moved from UK to France 9 months ago. My 365 subscription has just expired. I have tried to renew, but the payment method does not allow me to change the country from UK to France. I've changed all the country details on the account. Any suggestions please?

Hello,

Since the subscription has expired, you will need to purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription (Personal or Family) using the same Microsoft account.

*Microsoft does not allow you to renew the expired subscription if you switched to another country/region and the payment is in a different currency. Renewal works if you are located in the same country where the subscription was originally purchased.

Make sure you have updated your country/region details in your Microsoft Account profile:

If the details are correct,

Open a Private browsing window,
Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/onedrive-plans-and-pricing
Select the Office 365 Subscription you would like to purchase, click 'Buy now'.
Sign in with the correct Microsoft Account.

You will then be redirected to complete your Office 365 purchase using the new payment method for your current country or region.

After the purchase, you should see the subscription reflected under your Microsoft account on the Services & Subscriptions page here: https://account.microsoft.com/services

Because the subscription was originally purchased in the UK, the payment country for that subscription cannot be changed to France while that subscription still exists.

What to do:

Go to Services & subscriptions and confirm the old Microsoft 365 subscription status: https://account.microsoft.com/services
If it is still present, do not try to update that subscription with a French payment method.
If needed, cancel the old subscription or wait until it is fully gone/expired.
Update the Microsoft account profile country/region on the Your info page and make sure the account region is set correctly.
Then buy a new Microsoft 365 subscription for France using a French billing address and payment method.

Important details:

Microsoft recommends changing region only when moving long-term.
Items and subscriptions bought in one region might not work the same way in another region.
If Microsoft 365 was bought from a third party instead of Microsoft, billing changes must be handled with that provider directly.
If activation or purchase is blocked because the old-region subscription still exists, the documented options are to wait for it to expire or cancel it. A subscription for the new region cannot be purchased until the existing one is gone.

If the expired subscription shows as past due, open Services & subscriptions and look for Pay now. If the goal is to move the subscription to France, paying the old UK subscription will not change its billing country.
