Missing CoPilot Chats

My Copilot chat history disappeared around Monday/Tuesday (approximately October 2026). Prior to that, I used Copilot daily and had a large number of active conversations, including a long-running chat that I updated on the day the issue occurred.

Copilot suddenly required me to sign in again. After signing in, only much older conversations from months ago and last year appeared. All recent conversations are missing.

The visible older chats belong to me and are associated with the same email address. My Gmail address and Microsoft account use the same email address.

Browser history links to older Copilot conversations no longer open the original conversations and instead redirect to the currently available chat list.

The issue has persisted for several days. Please investigate whether my recent chat history is associated with a different account identity, authentication method, or migration state and whether it can be restored.

    Hi, Kevin Gordon

Since older chats appear but recent ones are missing across saved links, this looks more like an account-level history indexing or synchronization problem than a browser issue. Similar cases have required support to repair the account’s chat synchronization.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Open the Microsoft Privacy Dashboard and check whether the missing conversations appear under Copilot app activity history. If available, export the history as a backup. Do not select Delete all activity history. Microsoft Copilot for individuals: your activity history confirms that Copilot activity can be exported or deleted there.

Create one short test chat, close Copilot, and reopen it. Note whether the new chat remains. This helps support distinguish a failed migration from an ongoing history-saving problem.

Contact Microsoft Support and specifically request an account-level chat-history resync or migration repair. Include the approximate disappearance date, affected devices, and a screenshot showing the gap.

Also submit the same details through Copilot > ... > Send feedback > Report a problem, which sends diagnostic information directly with the report.
