Use Microsoft’s Manage your payments page to investigate the MSBILL.INFO charge first; if it identifies a subscription, cancel it there to stop future billing and have refund eligibility assessed.
1. Identify the charge
- Open Manage your payments.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account most likely connected to the card.
- Select Investigate beside the unrecognized charge.
- If necessary, repeat this using any other Microsoft accounts used by household members.
Microsoft lists recurring subscriptions, family purchases, retried payments, shipped pre-orders or split orders, and in-app purchases as possible sources of an unfamiliar charge.^1^
2. If it identifies a Microsoft 365 subscription
- Go to Services & subscriptions using the account that purchased it.
- Find the subscription and select Manage.
- Select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel, then complete the prompts.
- The cancellation process will show whether the charge qualifies for a refund. Not every cancellation results in one.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
If Turn on recurring billing appears instead of Cancel, renewal is already disabled and the subscription will expire on the displayed date.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft 365")
For a directly purchased Microsoft subscription, the most recent recurring charge may qualify for a refund when cancellation occurs within 30 days of payment, subject to Microsoft’s conditions and the account’s previous refund history.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
3. If the charge cannot be found
Contact Microsoft Support, enter unrecognized Microsoft billing charge, select Get Help, and then Contact Support. Provide:
- Charge date: 12 October 2026
- Amount: R3,291.02
- Statement descriptor: MSBILL.INFO IE
- Transaction reference: G191270132
- Only the last four digits of the card if requested through the secure support channel
This public forum cannot access billing records or issue a cancellation or refund.^4^
4. If neither Microsoft nor anyone in the household recognizes it
Contact the card issuer immediately and report the payment as unauthorized. Ask it to:
- Block further charges from the compromised card.
- Dispute the transaction.
- Replace the card if its details may have been exposed.
Microsoft specifically advises contacting the bank or payment provider when payment information may have been acquired; disputing only the existing charge does not prevent additional fraudulent charges.^1^
Do not post the full card number, security code, account email, or billing address in this public forum.
