I accidentally set up two Microsoft 365 Family Accounts. I will cancel one. Can I get a partial refund for remaining months?

    Yes—possibly, but not automatically.

For a Microsoft 365 Family subscription purchased directly from Microsoft, refund eligibility is determined during cancellation. In most cases:

    • A refund may be available within 30 days of the initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date, whichever is sooner.
    • A refund of the most recent recurring billing charge may also be available if the subscription is canceled within 30 days after payment. This is limited to one time per Microsoft account, per subscription product.
    • Prorated refunds are available only in certain countries/regions.

To check whether the canceled duplicate subscription qualifies:

    1. Sign in with the Microsoft account that purchased that subscription.
    2. Go to Services & subscriptions.
    3. Select the subscription, then Manage > Cancel.
    4. During cancellation, the system indicates whether that subscription qualifies for a refund and guides the next steps.

    Important details:

    • Not all cancellations result in a refund.
    • If the subscription was bought through Apple App Store, Google Play, or another third party, cancellation and refunds must be handled with that provider.
    • If no refund is issued, access typically continues until the end of the current billing period.
