Disappearing Copilot chats

I was unexpectedly signed out of Copilot on 13 October 2026. After signing back into the same Microsoft account, all previous chat history disappeared. New chats are being saved, but historical chats are missing. The issue persists in an InPrivate browser session.

    I understand how concerning it can be to sign back into Copilot and find that your previous conversations are no longer showing, especially when new chats are saving normally.

    Before going further, could you confirm whether the account you use with Copilot is a personal Microsoft account (such as Outlook.com/Hotmail.com) or a work/school account managed by an organization?

    If it is a personal Microsoft account, please also check whether the older Copilot activity is still associated with the account:

    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/privacy and sign in with the same Microsoft account used in Copilot.
    • Open Privacy > Empower your productivity > Copilot > Your Copilot app activity history > Copilot apps
    • Choose Export all activity history
    • Once the CSV file is downloaded, check whether it contains prompts/responses from before October 13.
