Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hello Andrew,
This may happen when either the Outlook mailbox or the Microsoft cloud storage linked to the account remains over its limit. Outlook.com attachments and inline images count toward Microsoft cloud storage, so email can be blocked even when the mailbox is small and OneDrive shows no visible files.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
- In Outlook.com, open Settings > Account > Storage to see which folders are using the most mailbox space.
- Review the largest folders, especially Sent Items and Archive, and delete emails containing large attachments or inline images. The entire email must be deleted to remove its attachments from storage. Afterward, empty Deleted Items.
- Then sign out of Outlook.com, close the browser, and sign back in to refresh the storage information.
If the storage warning remains after these steps, please let me know and I'll guide you to contact Microsoft Support so they can check whether the account has a storage-quota mismatch.
