I was guaranteed 5 years at $69.99 for Microsoft 365. Now I'm being charged $99.99

After an hour trying to contact Microsoft, all I learned is that my subscription is being upgraded with the addition of CoPilot. I don't want CoPilot. One article said I could change my subscription back to "Family Classic", so I went to my account page and tried to do that. The only two options were "upgrade" and "Basic". I'm on the verge of totally canceling out every vestige of Microsoft from my computer. Pat Rapp

    Hi @Pat Rapp

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I’m sorry for the frustration this subscription change has caused, especially after you spent so much time trying to contact Microsoft and were unable to find the Classic option in your account.

Based on the purchase confirmation you shared, you were charged USD 76.20 including tax for Microsoft 365 Personal. The confirmation also states that your next annual payment on November 9, 2026 will be USD 69.99 plus applicable taxes. Since this differs from the USD 99.99 price you encountered, Microsoft Billing Support will need to review the promotion, your order history, and the renewal terms associated with your account.

Please contact Microsoft Support using the following steps:

    • Go to Contact Microsoft Support.
    • Select Show expanded list of products.
    • Choose Office > Get Home support.
    • Type live chat in the search box, then select Get Help > Contact Support.
    • Under Ask our Support Assistant, type Talk to live chat agent, then select Contact Support.
    • Under Products & Services, select Microsoft 365 and Office > Billing and Account Profile Question.
    • Choose Chat with a support agent via web browser.

If you cannot sign in to the affected account, you may sign in with a different Microsoft account to access the available support options.

Please do not select Microsoft 365 Basic or cancel the subscription completely before Billing Support reviews the account, because Basic does not include the same benefits as Microsoft 365 Personal and canceling may affect the options available to you.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas only.
