Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
Hi Saul,
As per checking, there is no way for Microsoft or other recipients to verify whether an Outlook.com email address belongs to a legitimate person or a scammer based solely on the email address. While @outlook.com is a valid personal Microsoft email service, anyone can create an account using it.
With that said, if you do not personally know the sender or cannot independently verify their identity, make sure that you do not provide sensitive information such as passwords, verification codes, banking details, credit card information, or personal identification documents. And if in such case that sender is claiming to represent a company, consider contacting that company through its official website or phone number to verify the communication.
Therefore, if you're unsure whether the messages are legitimate, treat them with caution and avoid clicking links or opening unexpected attachments until you can confirm the sender's identity.
