I have a yearly subscription for Microsoft 365 on my current desktop computer. I have purchased a new computer and purchased Microsoft 365 for the new computer. I want to confirm that I will only be billed my yearly subscription of $99.99 next year on my new computer and not on my old computer as well.

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. I understand that you have a query for your Microsoft 365 subscription.

You do not need multiple subscriptions not unless you are already over the limit for it and the existing ones you have can still be used for your new computer if you login at account.microsoft.com/services and install it on your new computer

As you have an existing subscription, you can cancel it and then you can go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365/billing and try it from there or try to turn off the recurring billing at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2277073 and you can also follow the guided steps indicated from the link below which also includes refund eligibility check.

A Microsoft 365 subscription is tied to the Microsoft account, not to a specific computer.

For Microsoft 365 for home, one Microsoft account can have only one active Microsoft 365 subscription. If another subscription of the same type is added to that same account, it extends the subscription time and does not create extra billing for a second computer.

To verify what will be billed:

    1. Sign in to account.microsoft.com/services with the Microsoft account used for Microsoft 365.
    2. Find the Microsoft 365 subscription.
    3. Check whether Manage, Cancel, or Change payment appears.
    4. Review the renewal date and whether recurring billing is turned on.

If recurring billing is on, billing happens on the renewal date for that subscription. If recurring billing is off, the subscription continues until the expiry date and is not billed again automatically.

If the new computer purchase came from a third party or retailer, billing might need to be managed with that provider directly.
