Copilot iOS app stuck in Guest Mode or not Syncing after reinstall — cannot sync conversations

Hi, I’m having a persistent issue with the Microsoft Copilot app on my iPhone after deleting and reinstalling it.

Even though the app shows my Microsoft account email during setup, the app behaves as if I’m not signed in at all. It is stuck in what appears to be Guest Mode, and none of my Copilot features or conversation history load.

Symptoms:

No profile icon in the top‑right

Bottom bar shows a half‑solid / half‑dotted circle (Temporary Chat icon)

Tapping that icon only opens Temporary Chat, not my account

No option anywhere to “Sign in” or “Continue with Microsoft”

“Personalisation” appears in Settings, but Memory is missing

No Pages, no Projects, no icon customisation

Copilot does not appear under iOS permissions (Tracking, Microphone, Camera)

Conversation history does not sync

App feels like a stripped‑down version even though the correct Microsoft Copilot app is installed

After reinstall, I get the “Meet the latest Copilot” screen with a privacy question, but after pressing Continue it goes straight to the home screen without loading my profile

Steps I have already tried:

Signed out and back in

Offloaded the app and reinstalled

Fully deleted the app and reinstalled

Restarted the iPhone

Cleared saved Microsoft passwords in iOS

Checked iPhone Storage to ensure no leftover Copilot data

Waited on the welcome screen before pressing Continue

Checked the menu and Temporary Chat screens for any sign‑in option (none appear)

Problem:

The app never completes the full authentication handshake. It shows my email during setup, but once inside the app, there is no way to access my account, no sign‑in option, and no profile loading. I am permanently stuck in Guest Mode.

Request:

Could someone from Microsoft confirm whether this is a known issue with Copilot on iOS after reinstalling, and advise how to force the app to exit Guest Mode and properly authenticate with my Microsoft account?

Thank you.

    Hi N Price-Jones,

I understand how frustrating this must be, especially after you have already reinstalled the app and tried several troubleshooting steps.

Could you please confirm your iOS version, Copilot app version, and whether you are using a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account? Also, please sign in to Copilot on the web with the same account and check whether your profile and conversation history appear there.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot access account authentication records or reset sign-in information from the server side. My role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.

I could not find any public Microsoft documentation confirming that this specific Guest Mode behavior is currently a known issue. If everything works correctly on the web but the iOS app remains in Guest Mode, please submit feedback through Copilot if that option is available and contact Microsoft Support for additional assistance.

I know this isn't the news you were hoping for, but I wanted to make sure you got the most accurate information about your situation. Thank you so much for your understanding.
