Downgrading from Family to Personal

Other members are over the 5GB free limit for OneDrive storage. Do they loose what is stored in OneDrive or is there a grace period in which they can sign up for their own O365 personal accounts or join a different family plan.

    Hi John

I'm AnnaThomas and I'd be happy to help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

If you downgrade from an Office 365 Family subscription to an Office 365 Personal subscription, the accounts of other family members will lose access to the Family subscription benefits, including OneDrive storage, Skype minutes, and shared family features.

However, their data will not be lost immediately. Microsoft provides a grace period of at least 30 days after the subscription ends to allow family members to download their files and data from OneDrive, or purchase their own subscription to continue using the service.

During this grace period, family members will still have access to their files and data, but they will not be able to upload new files to OneDrive or make any changes to their existing files. After the grace period ends, any remaining data will be read-only, and family members will have to take action to move or back up their data before it is eventually deleted.

To avoid data loss, you can recommend that family members download their files and data from OneDrive before the subscription ends, and consider upgrading to their own personal subscription or joining a different family plan to continue using the service.

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards,

    AnnaThomas
