I am on windows 11, this notification just keeps getting send, I'm guessing it's when I unlock my laptop but I haven't checked, and I have no idea why. I can only guess it's the custom german keyboard layout I made myself that's getting blocked for some reason but idk if that can even be a .dll file and why would it be blocked only on the log in screen when it works fine when I'm actually logged in. Is there anything I should or could do? Is this a bug?

    Welcome ties,

Thanks for the screenshot, it helps a lot. Your guess is very likely right, and this doesn't look like a bug.

Custom keyboard layouts are saved as .dll files, so your layout is "Deutsch.dll." Layouts made with Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator aren't digitally signed. Smart App Control, a security feature in Windows 11, blocks unsigned files it can't verify. The sign-in screen ("Windows Logon User Interface Host") loads your layout as a separate process when you unlock the laptop, so the block and the notification happen at that point and not on the desktop. Smart App Control Frequently Asked Questions

    Please try these steps:

Step 1: Check that Smart App Control is on

    • Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
    • Go to App & browser control and select Smart App Control settings.
    • Note whether it is set to On, Evaluation or Off

Step 2: Confirm which file is being blocked

    • Right-click Start and open Event Viewer
    • Go to Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > CodeIntegrity > Operationa
    • Look for recent entries that mention "Deutsch.dll" and "LogonUI.exe." Look for event ID 3076 for evaluation mode or 3077 for enforcement mode. These logs show which individual files were blocked or audited.

Step 3: Stop the sign-in screen from using the custom layout (recommended) If you only need the custom layout after you sign in, you can make the sign-in screen use a standard layout instead:

    • Go to Settings > Time & language > Language & region
    • Under your language, open "Language options." Make sure a standard layout, such as "German," is installed. Then move your custom layout to the bottom of the list, or remove it for now.
    • Go back and select Administrative language settings. On the "Administrative tab, select Copy settings…
    • Check Welcome screen and system accounts, then select OK and restart.
    • You can now add your custom layout back for your own account. Leave it off the sign-in screen.

    Looking forward to your update.
