Subject: Microsoft 365 Business Basic – Unable to Access Administrator Account or Cancel Subscription

I purchased Microsoft 365 Business Basic on 15 October 2026 for my new business.

Although Microsoft confirmed the purchase and issued an administrator username, I have been unable to access or manage the subscription reliably.

Attempts to access the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre repeatedly result in account recognition errors, permission restrictions or redirection to another Microsoft account.

I have attempted account switching, InPrivate browsing and Microsoft's support portal without resolving the issue.

I now wish to cancel the Microsoft 365 Business Basic subscription, stop recurring billing and request a full refund within the applicable cancellation period.

Unfortunately, I cannot access the normal cancellation controls.

Could a Microsoft moderator please provide a direct written escalation route to Microsoft 365 Business Billing Support for a customer who cannot access the administrator account associated with a newly purchased subscription?

I have the purchase confirmation and order reference available for private verification.

Please note that I hold a separate personal Microsoft 365 Premium subscription, which must remain active and unchanged.

Due to disability, I require all communication in writing. Telephone contact is not accessible to me.

Given the recent purchase date and the difficulties accessing the subscription, I would appreciate urgent assistance in resolving this matter.

Kind regards,

    Hi Gary,

If you want to contact Microsoft Support directly and telephone support is not accessible to you, there may still be a workaround. You could consider creating a new Microsoft 365 trial tenant using a different account. Once the new tenant is created, you may be able to submit a support request through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and explain that you are unable to access the administrator account associated with your original subscription. A support representative can then advise on the available options for recovering access, canceling the subscription, or requesting a refund.

To set up a new tenant, please follow these steps:

Visit Microsoft 365 Business Plans and Pricing | Microsoft 365. This would allow you to create a new tenant following the prompts provided. Once set up, you can access the admin console of the new tenant and submit a support ticket requesting to speak with the Data Protection team on behalf of your previous tenant.

Follow the guided setup process to create a new account for a new tenant.

Once your tenant is created, you should be able to access the support portal and submit your ticket referencing your locked account without further issues.

    To create a support request:

Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center using a Global Administrator account for the trial tenant

Select Help & support from the navigation menu.

User's image Turn off the Support Assistant toggle at the top of the support pane.

    User's image

Enter a brief description of the issue, such as "Contact Support".

    Choose the "Contact support".

Follow the prompts to create a new support request and select your preferred contact method.

In the support ticket, explain that you are unable to access the administrator account associated with your Microsoft 365 tenant. To verify ownership, Microsoft’s Data Protection Team may ask you to provide documentation such as:

    • Proof of domain ownership (for example, the ability to manage DNS records)
    • Billing or subscription details, including payment information or account history
    • The Tenant ID of the affected Microsoft 365 organization, if available
    • Official business registration documents
    • Documentation demonstrating that you are an authorized representative of the business

Once the trial tenant has been successfully created and activated, you should be able to submit a support request through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Microsoft Support can then assist with verifying ownership, restoring administrative access, investigating account-related issues, and advising on subscription cancellation or refund options where applicable.

Please remember to cancel the trial subscription after your issue is resolved, as this will help you avoid any accidental billing. You may prefer the following resource for detailed instructions: Cancel your Microsoft business subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center | Microsoft Learn

Please note that this is a user-to-user community forum. Community members do not have access to customer accounts, subscriptions, billing systems, or internal escalation channels. However, Microsoft Support can review your subscription details, help investigate account access problems, and determine refund eligibility based on the purchase date and Microsoft's applicable refund policies.

I hope this helps you resolve the issue quickly. I’m glad to assist and truly hope the information provided has been useful. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you need further assistance.
