I open up my Daily Commuter Crossword, and nothing happens. This happens every time I have to restart my Edge browser

    Hi Judy,

Since the crossword works again after Microsoft Edge is restarted, this may be related to the current browser session rather than the puzzle itself.

As a quick test, please open an InPrivate window by pressing Ctrl + Shift + N, then try opening the Daily Commuter Crossword there. If it works normally in InPrivate, an extension or stored site data in your regular Edge profile may be interfering.

You can then temporarily disable extensions from edge://extensions and test the crossword again. Also, please check Settings > About Microsoft Edge and install any available update.

Let me know whether you access the crossword from its website or from an installed app, and whether it works in InPrivate mode. This will help narrow down the next step. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Because the crossword is likely running as a Progressive Web App (PWA) through Microsoft Edge, the blank or non-loading behavior can be caused by Edge cache, extensions, or the app install itself.

    Try this in order:

    1. Clear Edge browsing data
      • Open Settings and more (...) > History > Open history page.
      • Select Delete browsing data.
      • Choose All time for Time range.
      • Select Browsing history and Cached images and files, then select Clear now.
    2. Check for extension conflicts
      • Open the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) > Manage Extensions.
      • Temporarily disable extensions, especially ad blockers or antivirus-related extensions.
      • If the crossword starts working, re-enable extensions one at a time to find the conflicting one.
    3. Make sure Edge is updated
      • Open Settings and more (...) > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
      • Install any available update.
    4. Repair Microsoft Edge
      • Close Edge.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Yes > Repair.
      • This should not affect browser data or settings.
    5. Reinstall the crossword as a PWA
      • Uninstall the game from the computer.
      • Open Microsoft Edge and go to the game page.
      • Use the install icon in the address bar to install it again.
      • This installs it as a Progressive Web App (PWA), which matches how the Store version works in the accepted Microsoft Q&A answer.

If the issue appears only after restarting Edge, step 1 and step 2 are the most relevant because cached data or an extension conflict can prevent the app from loading correctly after browser restart.
