Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hi Kartik,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and for sharing your detailed troubleshooting steps along with the screenshot. Your description of the empty User Activity page, including the Exchange User Detail table and the Top Ten Companies and Departments sections, despite a successful refresh and the correct admin roles, has been very helpful in reviewing your case.
This behavior occurs because the Microsoft 365 Usage Analytics Power BI template app reached its end of support on August 1, 2026, and as a result, it no longer reliably displays user-level activity data even when the refresh completes successfully. Microsoft 365 reports show anonymous instead of actual user names - Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn
Please follow the steps below that suit for your situation:
1/ Display real user names in usage reports
- First, sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with a Global Administrator account.
- Next, go to Settings, then Org settings, then Services, and select Reports.
- After that, clear the option Display concealed user, group, and site names in all reports and select Save.
- Please allow 24 to 72 hours for this change to take effect across all reports.

2/ Verify that the source data is available
- Then, in the admin center, go to Reports, then Usage, and open the Email activity report under Exchange.
- If user details appear in this report, your tenant data is healthy, which confirms that the gap comes only from the retired Power BI app.
3/ Move to a supported reporting option
- For regular monitoring, we recommend using the usage reports in the Microsoft 365 admin center, which you can export to Excel whenever needed.
- Alternatively, if you prefer a Power BI dashboard, you can build a custom report based on the Microsoft Graph reports API using your registered app. In this case, only the Reports.Read.All permissions require admin consent.

Additionally, please note that usage data usually has a delay of about 48 hours, so the most recent activity may not appear immediately.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reply. I’ll be glad to assist you further.
Best regards,
