How to get attachments to show up from an email template in NEW OUTLOOK

Hello,

I created an email template in NEW Outlook using the Mail Template add-in. When creating the template (and later when editing the template) I am able to attach and see attachments. However, when I create a NEW message from the template, the attachments are nowhere to be found. How do I get these attachments, which, again, are present ON THE TEMPLATE to actually show up in the email?

Hi NF2354,

Since Mail Templates is intended to save the complete message, including attachments, the attachments would normally be expected to appear when a new message is created from the saved template.

To help narrow this down, kindly you confirm whether:

The issue occurs with all attachments or only specific file types/sizes?
The template was saved after the attachments had already been added?
The same behavior occurs when creating a brand-new test template with a small attachment?
Does the issue occur in both New Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web, or only in one of them?

That information may help determine whether this is a configuration issue, a client-specific issue, or a problem with the feature itself.

Hello,

This happens with all attachments, regardless of size or file type (I have tried different types). The template was created after the attachments were added. Same behavior is happening with multiple tests emails/attachments. I do not know if the situation is present in Outlook on the web, because I don't use Outlook on the web. It is present in NEW OUTLOOK desktop.

I have added screenshots below for reference. First screenshot shows me making the template with the attachment via the "SAVE EMAIL AS TEMPLATE" function.

Second screenshot shows that the attachment is there if I go in to EDIT the template.

Third screenshot shows a new email made by clicking NEW>Mail from template. As you can see, no attachment.

Based on what you've shown, the attachment appears to be saved successfully with the template, as it remains visible when the template is opened for editing. The issue appears to occur only when creating a new message from the template.

Since you've confirmed that the issue occurs with multiple attachments and multiple newly created templates, it does not appear to be related to a specific file or template.

I understand that you do not normally use Outlook on the web. However, if possible, please try using the same account and template there to see whether the attachment is included when creating a new message from the template.

At this point, I am not aware of any additional user-side configuration changes that would normally cause this behavior. If the issue continues, you may need to contact your IT administrator and ask them to open a support case with Microsoft for further investigation.

A technical support engineer can then initiate a remote session, review backend settings, and run diagnostics. If needed, they can escalate the case to specialized engineering teams who are well-equipped to perform advanced troubleshooting and provide targeted solutions.

Hopefully, the issue can be identified and resolved soon.

Hello,

I have tried it on the web version and the new mail from template does have the attachments. So it seems to only be a problem using the desktop software.

Hi NF2354,

Since the attachment is included when creating a new message from the template in Outlook on the web, the template itself appears to be saving the attachment correctly. Based on your testing, the issue does appear to be limited to New Outlook for Windows.

You may want to try signing out of New Outlook and signing back in, or uninstalling and reinstalling New Outlook, and then test again with a newly created template.

If the issue persists after that, your IT administrator may need to open a support case with Microsoft.

Not completely clear from your screen shots - Are you using "Mail Templates" or the "My Templates add-in"?

I have used "Mail Templates" since they were first introduced and find them much more capable than "My Templates"
