Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Use Xbox Support’s Contact us route to follow up on the existing escalation with its ticket number; Xbox does not publish a separate public case-status tracker for compromised-account investigations.^1^
Follow up on the existing case
- Open Get more help | Xbox Support and select Contact us.^1^
- Sign in with another working Microsoft account if the compromised account cannot be used.
- Choose the closest options for:
- Account & profile
- I can’t sign in
- Compromised/hacked account
- Use the offered virtual-agent, chat, or callback option.
- Provide:
- The existing escalation/ticket number.
- The date it was opened.
- The last date Microsoft contacted you.
- Your original account email address and Xbox gamertag.
- A safe alternative email address where you can receive replies.
- Ask specifically for:
- The current status of the existing compromised-account escalation.
- Confirmation that the case is still open and assigned.
- Whether Microsoft needs more information from you.
- Re-escalation because no update has arrived in more than six weeks.
Do not post the ticket number, email address, payment details, console serial number, or other identifying information in this public forum.
Do not open duplicate recovery requests unless support directs you
Since an escalation already exists, the immediate next step is case follow-up rather than repeating the same recovery submission. Also check the inbox and spam/junk folder of the contact email originally supplied to Microsoft.
The official Xbox compromised-account page remains the recovery route if support tells you that the old case was closed or never reached the account-recovery team.^2^ Microsoft’s hacked-account helper can identify the available recovery option from the affected email address or phone number and may offer contact with an agent.^3^
Important support limitation
A support representative can check routing and explain the next step, but Microsoft states that support agents cannot send password-reset links or directly access and change account details.^4^ Recovery therefore still depends on Microsoft verifying ownership; contacting additional agents cannot bypass that security check.
If access is restored, scan the device for malware before changing the password, then update the password and review account settings.^3^
