Locked out of personal Azure account by MFA – lost Authenticator, cannot open a support ticket

I own a personal Azure account (signed in with a personal Microsoft account, pay-as-you-go). I am the only user and Global Administrator of its Default Directory tenant — there is no other admin who can reset my MFA.

When I sign in at portal.azure.com, my password is accepted, but I am then asked for a Microsoft Authenticator code for the Azure/Entra tenant. I no longer have access to that Authenticator app registration and I have no backup or recovery codes. "Sign in another way" does not offer any other method.

My personal Microsoft account itself works fine — I can sign in to Microsoft 365 and support.microsoft.com — so this is only the Azure tenant MFA.

What I have already tried:

  • support.microsoft.com → Contact us → Azure: redirects me to the Azure portal sign-in, which I can't pass.
  • azure.microsoft.com/support/create-ticket: also redirects to the Azure portal sign-in.
  • Calling Microsoft support (UAE): the automated assistant tells me to sign in to the Azure portal to raise a ticket.

So I can't open a support request through any channel. Could a moderator please help me open a support case, or route this to the Data Protection team, to verify my ownership and reset MFA on my account? I can provide the subscription details and billing information (card used, billing address, invoices) privately to verify ownership.

Thank you.

Microsoft** regional Customer Service by **phone

This is the strongest official route. When the IVR or agent tells you to create a portal ticket, don't describe it simply as an MFA problem. Say:

"I cannot create an Azure portal support request because I am the only Global Administrator of the Microsoft Entra tenant and I have lost the only registered MFA method. I need a support case created for a sole** Global Administrator tenant lockout / tenant **recovery. I need the case routed for ownership verification."

Microsoft's Azure documentation specifically directs customers who cannot** access the Azure **portal to regional customer service
