Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
A Microsoft 365 work account cannot be merged with a personal Gmail or Gmail-based Microsoft account; the two accounts must remain separate.^1^
Supported alternatives
- Manage both mailboxes in Outlook:
- New Outlook for Windows: View → View settings → Accounts → Your accounts → Add Account, then enter the Gmail address.
- Classic Outlook: File → Add Account, enter the Gmail address, and select Connect.^2^
- Use both OneDrive accounts: Select the OneDrive cloud icon → Help & Settings → Settings → Account → Add an account. The storage remains separate, but files can be copied or dragged between the work and personal folders.^3^
- Forward work email to Gmail: Ask the organization’s IT administrator whether external forwarding is permitted. This depends on company security and data-protection policies.
- Microsoft 365 subscription and billing: Subscriptions, purchases, balances, and account history cannot be transferred by merging accounts. Before cancelling or changing anything, identify which account owns the subscription and preserve any required email and OneDrive data.
