Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
For an unrecognized Microsoft charge, start here:
- Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate for the charge.
- Check whether the charge was caused by:
- a subscription with recurring billing enabled
- a purchase by a family member or someone with access to the payment method
- a previously declined charge being retried
- a pre-order or split order shipping separately
- an in-app purchase
- If the charge is tied to a Microsoft subscription and a refund is needed, sign in with the Microsoft account used for the purchase, go to Services & subscriptions, select the subscription, then Manage > Cancel. Refund eligibility is determined automatically during cancellation. Not all cancellations result in a refund.
- If the payment information may have been stolen or compromised, contact the bank or payment provider immediately to prevent more charges. Disputing a charge alone does not stop future fraudulent charges.
- If more help is needed, use Contact Microsoft Support and select Get Help, then Contact Support for the best support option.
Avoid repeated chargebacks unless directed by the bank. Repeated misuse of chargebacks can be considered fraud.
