I seem to have multiple accounts with microsoft 365. i want to ensure i have only one account moving forward and cancel any extra accounts that i may have. Due to these multiple accounts i have been unsucceful in signing into microsoft on my new laptop since i purchased another account from best buy when i bought the laptop. I would like to speak with a a real person in customer service tha can assist me with this complex problem. How do i get a real person on the phone and what number do i call?

    Hi @Kelsey Fletcher

First, please feel free to check out the AI answer that is providing really detailed steps.

Since the newer Microsoft 365 purchase was made through Best Buy, first check the receipt or activation email to confirm whether Best Buy manages that subscription. If it does, any cancellation or refund request must be handled directly through Best Buy rather than Microsoft.

Before contacting anyone, make a short list of each email address you may have used and check the Services & subscriptions page while signed in separately with each one. This should help identify which account owns the subscription you want to keep.

This is a public forum, and community members cannot access or consolidate your accounts.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors cannot access accounts or Microsoft’s back-end systems. We can only provide technical guidance on reported incidents, requests and ideas

Thank you for your understanding and time.

For a personal Microsoft account, the supported path is to use Microsoft Support contact options rather than a direct public phone number in this guidance.

    1. Go to Contact Microsoft Support.
    2. Select Personal account.
    3. Use the sign-in helper tool first if prompted, because the sign-in issue on the new laptop may be tied to which Microsoft account owns the Microsoft 365 subscription.
    4. If self-help does not resolve it, select Get Help and enter the issue, such as multiple Microsoft 365 subscriptions or manage my subscription.
    5. Then select Contact Support to be routed to the best support option, which may include chat.

For duplicate Microsoft 365 subscriptions, Microsoft support guidance also points to Contact Support for technical support and subscription help.

    Important points:

    • Support agents are not allowed to send password reset links or access and change account details.
    • If the issue involves multiple subscriptions tied to different Microsoft accounts, support can help review the subscription situation through the contact flow.
    • If cancellation is needed, subscription-related help is listed under Microsoft account sign-in and billing support.

For work or school accounts, support is different and goes through the Microsoft 365 admin center, but the scenario described matches a personal/home Microsoft 365 purchase.
