Individual Artifact Signing verification stuck at Action Required after Verified ID HTTP 504

I am completing Public individual identity validation in Canada for Azure Artifact Signing. The signing account is in East US on a paid pay-as-you-go subscription.

AU10TIX issued my Verified ID in Microsoft Authenticator. FaceCheck succeeded, but submitting the Verified ID presentation failed. The diagnostic log reports:

FaceCheckStatus=success

PostPresentationResponseOperation: HTTP 504

FailureStage=response

RequestDomain=credentials.microsoft.com

The failure occurred on October 9, 2026, around 19:12:48 UTC.

Azure now shows Action Required. Both the email verification link and the portal’s “Please complete your verification here” link display: “Sorry, this link has been used already.” My Verified ID is still present in Microsoft Authenticator. The Artifact Signing Identity Verifier role has already been assigned.

AU10TIX support responded under case #00088929 and directed me to Microsoft, explaining that Microsoft handles Entra Verified ID platform functionality. They have not confirmed the root cause of the HTTP 504.

Could the Artifact Signing / Entra Verified ID team investigate the failed presentation and explain how to recover this request? Can the presentation session be reset, or can a supported retry use my existing Verified ID?

My Azure subscription has Basic support, and the technical support ticket form requires a paid support plan. I can provide the full diagnostic log and identity-validation ID privately through an appropriate Microsoft support channel.

    There is no supported self-service reset for this request state.

    For Artifact Signing individual identity validation:

    1. If the verification link has already been used or expired, a new link cannot be resent on the same request.
    2. If email validation says Failed or the flow cannot continue, the documented recovery is to create another identity validation request.
    3. For individual validation errors such as failed matching or FaceCheck-related failures, the documented recovery is to delete the existing identity validation request, remove the associated Verified ID from Microsoft Authenticator, then submit a new identity validation request and create a new Verified ID.
    4. Creating more identity validation requests for the same entity while one is already in progress does not help, and requests cannot be expedited.

    Given the current state described:

    • Action Required remains in Azure.
    • The portal and email links both say “this link has been used already.”
    • The Verified ID is still in Microsoft Authenticator.
    • The presentation failed after FaceCheck with an HTTP 504.

    The supported recovery path is:

    1. In Azure portal, delete the current individual identity validation request.
    2. In Microsoft Authenticator, remove the Verified ID associated with that failed request.
    3. Start a new Individual public identity validation request from the Artifact Signing account.
    4. Use the same email address for the request and for signing in to access the identity validation link.
    5. Complete the verification again, ensuring the device/browser path is clean:
      • close all instances of Microsoft Authenticator before relaunching,
      • use the latest Microsoft Authenticator version,
      • clear browser cache or try a different browser,
      • avoid weak Wi-Fi and avoid VPN/proxy,
      • if needed, try a different phone.

    If the issue recurs, the documented assistance path is Azure Support or Microsoft Q&A with the artifact-signing tag. The FAQ also states that support can be contacted for identity validation assistance.
