Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Investigate the $19.99 charge through your Microsoft account first; if it belongs to an unwanted Microsoft 365 subscription, cancel it there to check refund eligibility.
1. Identify the charge
- Open Manage your payments and sign in.
- Select Investigate beside the unrecognized charge.
- If you use more than one Microsoft account, repeat this with each account that could be connected to the payment card.
- Check whether a family member used the card or whether an existing subscription renewed automatically. These are common reasons for an unfamiliar Microsoft charge.^1^
2. Cancel it and check for a refund
If the charge is linked to your Microsoft 365 subscription:
- Sign in to Services & subscriptions with the account that owns it.
- Find Microsoft 365 and select Manage.
- Select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel.
- Complete the cancellation process. Microsoft will automatically display whether the subscription qualifies for a refund; cancellation does not always produce one.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
If Turn on recurring billing appears, automatic renewal is already disabled and the subscription will expire on the displayed date.
If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer collected the payment, request cancellation and a refund from that retailer; Microsoft cannot refund payments it did not receive.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Manage your Microsoft 365 subscription purchased through a third party | Microsoft Support")
3. Contact billing support
A callback cannot be initiated from this Q&A forum. Open Contact Microsoft Support, enter unrecognized Microsoft 365 charge, and select Get Help. If the automated guidance does not resolve it, select Contact Support and use whichever contact option is offered for your account and region.^1^
Do not post your phone number, card number, email address, or other account details here.
If no Microsoft account shows the charge
Contact your bank or payment provider immediately and report the payment information as stolen or compromised—not merely as a disputed charge. Ask them to prevent further transactions and advise whether the card should be replaced.^1^
