For a WiX MSI submitted to Microsoft Store package validation, fix the installer so it passes the same checks that Store validation runs locally:
- Verify silent install from a command prompt.
- Run the MSI with the required silent parameter:
/qn - The install must complete with no UI shown.
- UAC prompts are allowed.
- Run the MSI with the required silent parameter:
- Verify the Add/Remove Programs entry.
- After silent install, open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- Confirm the product shows the correct app name, publisher name, and version.
- The entry must not show a blank or unrelated Name or Publisher.
- Verify bundleware behavior.
- After install, the app should add only a single entry in Programs and Features.
- If multiple entries appear, validation treats that as bundleware.
- Ensure the MSI exposes installer product information correctly.
- The installer must be configured so Windows can query ProductName, Publisher Name, Default Language, and Version information where users expect to find it, such as Add/Remove Programs.
- For MSI packages, this information is part of the installer package. See the installer property guidance in the MSI property reference.
- Confirm uninstall is clean.
- Validation also checks that the app can uninstall cleanly without leaving file, folder, and registry remnants.
- Re-run package validation in Partner Center.
- Go to Manage Packages.
- Click Run next to the package.
- After results are available, select View status.
- If re-running validation on the same package, update either the package binary or the silent install parameter first.
If the MSI installs correctly in normal interactive mode but fails Store validation, the most likely issues are:
- the silent install path is not working with
/qn - the MSI is not populating recognizable Name and Publisher values in Programs and Features
- the installer is creating more than one Programs and Features entry
