Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
If Microsoft 365 Personal was purchased directly from Microsoft, refund eligibility is checked during cancellation.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account used for the purchase at
https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365. - Find the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription and select Manage.
- Select Cancel. If the page shows Upgrade or Cancel, select that.
- Follow the cancellation steps. During that process, Microsoft indicates whether the subscription qualifies for a refund and provides the next steps.
Key points:
- Not all cancellations result in a refund.
- In most cases, a refund may be available within 30 days of the initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date, whichever is sooner.
- If no refund is issued, access to Microsoft 365 typically continues until the end of the current billing period.
- If the subscription was bought through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another third-party retailer, the refund must be requested from that retailer, not Microsoft.
To speak with support, use Contact Microsoft Support and select Get Help, then Contact Support if needed.
A Chromebook cannot install the full desktop version of Microsoft 365 or Office. If installation on the Chromebook is the issue, the supported alternative mentioned is to use the free Microsoft 365 apps in a browser.
