    Dear Chris,

As a forum moderator, I am not able to check your tenants or remove the domain directly. My role here is limited to providing general guidance you can apply from your side. From your description, buying Windows 365 with your work email may have created a separate Microsoft 365 tenant, and your domain may have been attached to it. A domain can only be verified in one tenant at a time, which would explain why your Exchange setup can't use it. Please don't close the account yet. Closing the subscription doesn't immediately release the domain, and it could affect services you still need.

As a first check, sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with the account you used to buy Windows 365, and go to Settings > Domains. If your domain is listed there, it can be removed from that tenant. Before removing it, any users, mailboxes or groups using the domain must be moved to another domain, and it can't be set as the default domain. For details, see Remove a domain. The original address ending in .onmicrosoft.com is the tenant’s fallback domain and cannot be removed. Also, the same custom domain normally cannot be verified in two tenants simultaneously.

If that doesn't match what you see, could you please clarify:

    • Did you purchase Windows 365 Cloud PC or Microsoft 365 plan?
    • What exact error appears when creating the new email account?
    • Is your email hosted in Microsoft 365 Exchange Online or with another provider?
    • Are you a Global Administrator for the tenant?
    • Do you want to keep the four existing Exchange mailboxes?
    • Which domain are you trying to remove?

I hope this helps. Looking forward to your reply.
