How to retrieve Inbox emails between a lapsed and renewed subscription

I have not received emails for 4 days due to "storage" issue. I renewed my subscription Microsoft 365 today. But I am not seeing any emails from the last 4 days that did not get through to my Inbox.

Is there a way to retrieve those emails?

Thank you,

Shirley

Hi, @Shirley Mendes

Unfortunately, those emails are often bounced back to the sender and are not stored on the server, so they cannot always be recovered later.

A couple of things you can still check:

  • Ask the senders to resend the emails that were sent during the time your mailbox was full. In many cases, the sender would have received a "mailbox full" or "delivery failed" notice.
  • Check your Junk Email and Deleted Items folders just in case any messages were filtered there.

Now that your storage is available again, new emails should come through normally.

After renewal of your 365 subscription, purchasing additional storage or freeing space, it can take up to 24 to 48 hours for everything to fully update across your account. I’d recommend waiting that time and then trying again to check emails or try to send.

If the update is still pending after 24 hours, you can try unlinking and relinking your OneDrive account, or resetting it. "Unlink and re-link OneDrive" https://support.microsoft.com/office/unlink-and-re-link-onedrive-3c4680bf-cc36-4204-9ca5-e7b24cdd23ea

When Outlook.com storage is full, new messages are rejected rather than held for later delivery. After renewing the Microsoft 365 subscription, those missing emails from the 4-day period do not automatically appear in the Inbox.

    What can be done:

    1. Check whether storage is now back under quota. If storage is still over the limit, Outlook.com can still be unable to send or receive mail.
    2. Check these folders in Outlook.com in case any messages were delivered somewhere else:
      • Junk Email
      • Deleted Items
      • Archive
      • Other tab
    3. In Deleted Items, also select Recover items deleted from this folder and restore anything found there.
    4. If the messages are not in those locations, ask the senders to resend them. Messages sent while the mailbox could not receive mail are typically returned to the sender and must be sent again after space is available.
