https://account.live.com/proofs/manage.
- Select Add a new way to sign in or verify.
- Select Face, Fingerprint, PIN, or Security Key.
- Follow the prompts on the device where the passkey will be created.
- Select Continue or Create to save it in the suggested location, or select Change or Save another way to choose a different location.
- Complete the save process with the device unlock method, such as face, fingerprint, or PIN.
For a work or school account:
- Sign in to Security info at
https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
- Select Add sign-in method.
- Select Passkey or Passkey in Microsoft Authenticator.
- Follow the prompts on the device where the passkey will be created.
- Select Continue or Create to save it in the suggested location, or select Change or Save another way to choose a different location.
- Complete the save process with face, fingerprint, or PIN.
On Windows, if registering a Microsoft Entra passkey from Security info:
- Open a browser and sign in to Security info.
- Complete multifactor authentication.
- Select Add sign-in method > Choose a method > Passkey.
- Select Next.
- Choose where to save the passkey.
- After verification, Windows stores the passkey in the local Windows Hello container.
Passkeys let sign-in use the device’s secure method, such as face, fingerprint, or PIN, instead of typing a password.
