Billing Issue
I have a payment that goes to Microsoft every month since July but have no idea what it is for. How do I contact their accounts department?

2026-10-08T09:41:26.4833333+00:00 Hello Jonathan Stroulger,
I understand why a monthly charge you cannot identify would be concerning, especially since it has continued since July.
Before contacting support, please note the exact amount, transaction date, and the full merchant description shown on your bank statement. If you use more than one personal Microsoft account, it may also help to check the Services & subscriptions and Order history pages under each account, as the payment could be associated with a different sign-in.
Please do not post your full bank statement, card number, or other payment details in this public forum.
Since this is a user-to-user support forum, moderators and contributors cannot access billing records or identify the account connected to a payment. For a secure review, please contact Microsoft Support, sign in if possible, and enter “I need help identifying an unknown recurring Microsoft charge”. Select Get Help, then choose Contact Support when that option appears.
When connected to the Support Assistant, you can enter: “I would like to speak with a live billing support agent.”
Please have the charge amount, dates, and merchant description available for the agent, but only provide sensitive payment information through Microsoft’s secure support process.
If you do not recognize the charge at all or believe the payment method may have been compromised, please also contact your bank or card provider promptly to discuss protecting the account from further charges. Thank you so much for your understanding.
Note: Please follow the steps in our documentation to enable e-mail notifications if you want to receive the related email notification for this thread.

2026-10-06T14:15:36.8466667+00:00 Use Microsoft’s billing investigation flow first, because it is the supported path for unknown recurring charges.
- Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate.
- Review the common causes of recurring charges:
- recurring billing on a Microsoft subscription
- a charge that was previously declined and retried
- a pre-order or split order
- in-app purchases
- a purchase made by someone known to the cardholder
- If the charge still cannot be identified, contact Microsoft Support:
- Go to Contact Microsoft Support
- Enter the billing problem and select Get Help
- If needed, select Contact Support to reach the best support option
If the payment information may have been compromised, contact the bank or payment provider immediately to prevent additional charges.
