Hotmail account locked and unsuccessful verification

I was frozen out of my hotmail account last week. Upon logging back In with the correct credentials, I was asked to verify my account as it was a security risk. The option to verify via phone failed due to Microsoft error, the email is an old employer email address that no longer exists and and the recovery form when completed returns unsuccessful every time - although all details are correct!

I have no form of contact with Microsoft to resolve! It’s literally a joke !

It’s imperative I have access to that account. - what can I do to physically prove my identity and unrecover my account?

best regards

For option 2 of the response suggestions, i am not given the option to enter any phone number. I am only asked to confirm the last 4 digits of the number on the account. - this unfortunately fails stating “this verification method is not working right now please use a different method” when pressing send code.

There is no manual identity-proof route that bypasses Microsoft account recovery. Support agents are not allowed to send password reset links or access and change account details.

    What can still be done:

    1. Try the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper first. It is the primary path for most sign-in problems.
    2. If the account is specifically locked, sign in at Sign in to request a security code. Any phone number that can receive text messages can be used for the code; it does not need to already be associated with the account.
    3. If the offered verification email or phone is no longer accessible, select I don't have any of these during sign-in and follow the prompts to replace security info.
    4. If recovery form attempts keep failing, submit the Account recovery form again, but do it from a device and location previously used for that account, such as the usual home or office device/network. Microsoft states this can improve the chance of successful recovery.
    5. Use a working contact email when submitting the recovery form. It can be any active email account that can receive messages about the recovery request.
    6. If two-step verification was enabled and none of the alternate verification methods are accessible, the account cannot be recovered through support or the recovery form.
    7. If the sign-in flow shows “That Microsoft account doesn't exist”, use the Sign-in Helper.

    Important limits:

    • There is no supported process to “physically prove” identity to regain access.
    • Microsoft reviews recovery form answers and responds within 24 hours.
    • If verification messages are not arriving because the account is flagged for unusual activity or locked, they may not go through until that issue is resolved.
    • For technical support, Contact Microsoft Support is available, but support still cannot unlock the account by overriding account ownership checks.
