OneDrive "Unauthorized operation" error and library locked after account unlock

My personal Microsoft account was locked for suspicious activity and I completed verification to unlock it. The account page now shows no warnings and storage shows 0.8 GB used in OneDrive.

Since then:

  1. OneDrive web, My files, shows "Sorry, something went wrong. Unknown render failure. Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation."
  2. My personal OneDrive link shows "You can't access this item" even though I am signed in as the owner.
  3. The OneDrive desktop app on Windows shows "Can't reach the shared library 'OneDrive'. This library was locked, archived, deleted, or its access was changed by the owner or admin."

I get the same error in Incognito mode and after clearing cookies. Microsoft service health shows all products operational.

How can I restore access to my OneDrive?

    Hello SABIH NASAR

Thank you for reaching out and informed us about the situation with your account and with your OneDrive, here's what I'd suggest what to do next:

    • Wait for at least 24-48 hours:
      • Since your account just recently got unblock, it might take a few times for all the data to be sync back

    User's image

If after 24-48 hours and you're still unable to access your OneDrive, please reach out to Microsoft Support directly and provide them with the Correlation ID so they can provide further investigation into this matter since us Moderator do not have any tools or access to OneDrive directly in order to analyze the error any further, please follow:

    • Go to Contact Us - Microsoft Support
    • Select Microsoft 365
    • Click Get Home Support
    • Type a brief description of your issue in the search box.
    • Click Get Help and select Contact Support below.
    • Go to the Products and services tab and choose the appropriate product.
    • On the Category tab, choose the appropriate category or an alternative option.
    • Go to Confirm. Look for and select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" (during business hours) if available. Explain your situation clearly.

    Thank you for your understanding.
