Word no longer saves my work and I need to get to my files. My subscription is up to date.

    Hi, @Moira McLeod

Error 44 usually means Word is signed in with a different Microsoft account from the one that has your Microsoft 365 license.

    Please check this first:

    • Double check again, go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and confirm which Microsoft account has the active Microsoft 365 subscription.
    • In Word, check the account shown in the top-right corner.
    • If it is a different account, sign out and sign back in with the account that owns the subscription.

    Microsoft confirms this here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-activation-licensing/update-license-button-in-microsoft-365-apps

If the issue still persists, to help narrow down the issue:

    1. Does your subscription show as active under Services?
    2. Is Word signed in with that exact same Microsoft account?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!
