Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
- Check that the subscription is active on the same Microsoft account used for OneDrive. Go to the Services & subscriptions page, sign in, and confirm that Microsoft 365 Personal is listed as active. If Manage appears, the subscription is attached to that account.
- Check the storage quota shown on the account itself. Open Manage storage, refresh the page, and verify whether the account still shows 5 GB or has updated to the included subscription storage.
- If the storage has not updated yet, wait for the quota change to apply. Storage changes can take up to 24 hours to appear, and in some sharing scenarios up to 2 hours after acceptance before the new quota shows.
- If the quota still has not updated after that, unlink and relink OneDrive, then check Manage storage again. This is a documented step when purchased storage does not appear.
- If the account is frozen because it is over quota, delete some files or buy more storage to get back under the limit. Changes can take up to 2 hours to apply. If the account is still frozen after 4 hours, use contact support.
- If the subscription was purchased through a third-party retailer, use the Manage button on Services & subscriptions to confirm where it was purchased. If it was not purchased through Microsoft, management is redirected to the retailer site.
Relevant facts for this situation:
- A Microsoft 365 Personal subscription includes 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage.
- If only about 100 GB is being used but OneDrive says storage is full, the most common issue is that the subscription is not applied to the same Microsoft account currently signed in to OneDrive, or the quota has not refreshed yet.
- If additional storage was bought but is not visible, Microsoft recommends refreshing Manage storage, waiting up to 24 hours, then unlinking and relinking OneDrive.
