On iPhone, the place to tap the number depends on where the sign-in started:

    1. If the sign-in started in a web browser like Edge, Chrome, or Safari, the number is not tapped directly in the browser. Tap the sign-in notification, open Microsoft Authenticator, then enter the number there and approve the request.
    2. If the sign-in started in a Microsoft mobile app like Outlook or Teams on the same iPhone, the prompt can appear on the sign-in screen and can be completed with Yes/No instead of entering the number.
    3. If nothing appears, manually open Microsoft Authenticator and look for the pending sign-in request. For some work or school accounts, the app may need to be unlocked first before the number entry appears.
    4. If the request still does not show, pull down to refresh inside Authenticator.
    5. If authentication still does not complete, check these common causes:
      • Authenticator is locked
      • Notifications are silent or disabled
      • The app is outdated
      • The iPhone has a network issue
      • Date and time settings are incorrect

If needed, update to the latest version of Microsoft Authenticator.
