Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
This usually means the subscription is tied to a different Microsoft account than the one currently recognized.
Recommended steps:
- Sign in to the Microsoft account dashboard and open the Manage your payments page.
- Select Investigate for the charge. This is the supported way to review an unrecognized Microsoft charge.
- Check whether the charge could be caused by:
- recurring billing on a Microsoft subscription
- a purchase made by someone known to the cardholder
- a previously declined charge being retried
- a pre-order or split order shipping
- an in-app purchase
- If the subscription was cancelled recently, verify whether it was cancelled more than 2 days before the billing date. If cancellation happened too close to the billing date, the payment may still have been taken.
- Check Services & subscriptions to confirm whether the subscription appears under a different Microsoft account already in use.
- If the email shown is only partial and still is not recognized, contact Microsoft Support through Get Help and Contact Support so billing support can review the charge.
- If the charge does not appear under any known Microsoft account, contact the bank or card provider immediately and report the card as compromised. Disputing a single charge alone may not stop future fraudulent charges.
