Copilot on Android cannot attach documents directly from personal OneDrive

I am using the new Copilot Android app with my personal Microsoft account.

When I select a document directly from my personal OneDrive to attach to Copilot, I receive:

“Your organisation does not allow this action.”

This appears incorrect because this is my personal Microsoft/OneDrive account.

I have tested the following:

  • Photos upload successfully.
  • Copilot has Android All files access enabled.
  • I can read the files directly using the Onedrive app.
  • If I download the same OneDrive document to my phone first, Copilot uploads it successfully.
  • The failure therefore occurs when selecting the document directly from OneDrive using Copilot
  • There are no Onedrive connectors in Copilot.
  • Also Trying to use the app's feedback facility via m365appfeedback resulted in an Access Denied response.

Please investigate whether this is an issue with the new Copilot Android app and personal OneDrive integration.

    Hello Stuart MacMillan

Thank you for reaching out and informed us about the issue with Copilot app on your device. Since you're using a personal account but the error “Your organisation does not allow this action.” appears.

However, you also mentioned that if you download the file directly from your OneDrive to your device first, then you can upload to Copilot. From what I gathered, I believed that currently you're signing in to OneDrive using a work/school account. If that the case, according to Connecting Microsoft Copilot to other services the account type from Copilot and OneDrive must be matching in order for Copilot to be able to attach the file directly through Connector:
    User's image

Therefore, I would advise checking to see if your OneDrive session is logging in to a work/school or a personal account, otherwise you will need to manually download the file to your device first before attach to Copilot.

    I hope this helps.
