How to fix being stuck at "surface" logo in the middle and redbar with white lock in the middle of it issue.

I did many times as the Microsoft instructed, which is pressing down volume up and while holding down volume up, press the power button once and release it. but still having the same issue. it is not letting me go anyway.

Holding down volume down button is also same that I cannot even do soft reset.

Can you please help?

A screen stuck on the Surface logo, where even the volume-button combos don't respond, usually points to a firmware, battery, or startup-corruption problem. Try these in order:

    1. Rule out power and accessories

Plug in the original Surface charger and leave it for at least 1 hour, even if the screen looks dead.

Disconnect everything else: USB drives, SD card, dock, Type Cover, and external monitors.

    1. Do a proper two-button shutdown

The volume-up trick only works from a fully powered-off state, so start here:

Hold the power + volume up buttons together for at least 15-20 seconds, and keep holding through any screen flash or logo.

    Release, then wait 10 seconds.

If that doesn't work, hold just the power button for 30 seconds.

    1. Then try the UEFI or recovery entry

With the device fully off, hold volume up, then press and release power.

Keep holding volume up past the Surface logo, and only release it when the UEFI (BIOS) screen appears. Many people let go at the logo, which is too early.

If you reach UEFI, check that Secure Boot is enabled and the boot order is normal. Exit and restart.

    1. Use a Surface recovery USB

    If you have another PC:

Sign in at account.microsoft.com/devices, register your Surface with its serial number, and download the recovery image.

Create a USB drive from it, plug it into the Surface, then hold volume down + power, keeping volume down held until the logo appears.

Choose Troubleshoot, then Startup Repair or Reset this PC.

    1. If none of that works

If the buttons truly aren't registering, and especially if the device is warm, the case is bulging, or the screen edges are lifting, stop trying. That can be a swollen battery or a hardware fault. Contact Microsoft Surface support (support.microsoft.com/surface) to start a service order.

A red bar with an unlocked white lock icon means Secure Boot is turned off on the Surface.

    Try these steps:

    1. Shut down the Surface and wait about 10 seconds.
    2. Press and hold the Volume-up button.
    3. While holding Volume-up, press and release the Power button.
    4. When the Microsoft or Surface logo appears, keep holding Volume-up until the UEFI screen appears.
    5. In UEFI, select Security.
    6. Under Secure Boot, select Change Configuration.
    7. Select a Secure Boot certificate keyset such as Microsoft only.
    8. Select Exit > Restart now to save the change and restart.

If the device still does not let the UEFI screen open after repeated attempts, the documented next step is to get support or service:

    • For personal devices, use the Surface app or Get Help.
    • For work or school devices, contact the organization’s IT helpdesk or admin.
    • Service and repair options may also be available.
