Battery replacement for a Surface Laptop can be done in three supported ways:
- Order service through Microsoft
- Go to account.microsoft.com/devices and sign in.
- If the device is not already registered, register it first.
- Select the Surface Laptop that needs service.
- Select Start order or Next, then follow the prompts to create the service request.
- If the Surface still turns on, back up and erase data before sending it in.
- Use an Authorized Service Provider
- Microsoft works with Authorized Service Providers that may offer in-person service, depending on country or region.
- Buy a replacement part for self-repair
- Genuine Microsoft replacement parts can be purchased directly from Microsoft or from iFixit.
- Self-repair should only be done by a skilled technician following Microsoft Service Guides.
- Opening or repairing the device has risks, including electric shock, device damage, fire, personal injury, and loss of warranty coverage for repair-caused damage.
To find the laptop identification number:
- For Surface Laptop 7th Edition, the model and serial number are on the bottom center closest to the display hinge point.
- For Surface Laptop 5, the model and serial number are on the bottom of the device in the upper middle.
If the exact Surface Laptop model is not known, check the bottom of the device for the serial number, then register it at account.microsoft.com/devices to start service.
If help is needed finding support, the Surface app or Get Help can be used for technical support.
