Display color and brightness issue with Surface Pro 8

My Surface Pro 8 display has a noticeable color and brightness gradient: the upper part appears warmer, more yellowish and darker, while the lower part looks cooler, more bluish and significantly brighter, especially on white and light gray backgrounds. I have observed the same issue on several other Surface devices and would like to know whether this is a known display uniformity problem and if Microsoft offers a solution.

Yes, this is a known type of issue — it's display uniformity variance, and specifically for Surface Pro devices it's most commonly reported as "backlight bleed" or panel non-uniformity.

Not really a "fix" for a hardware backlight — it's not something a driver update corrects, since it originates in the panel/backlight assembly itself. Microsoft's official position:

What to try if your Surface screen is flickering, distorted, or has other display issues
