Multiple senders appear to be blocked on my hotmail account - specifically when resetting passwords

Hi There,

I've been having recurring issues with different vendors/senders whereby I am not receiving these password reset emails.

What I've already checked/tried:

  • Checked Junk/Spam folder - not there
  • Checked the "Other" tab in Focused Inbox - not there
  • Searched all folders for the sender's address - no results
  • Reviewed Mail Rules - found and deleted one rule that was auto-deleting mail from one of the senders, but the issue persisted even after removing it and requesting a fresh resend
  • Checked Blocked senders and domains list - sender was not listed
  • Confirmed my email address was entered correctly on the sending site
  • Confirmed my mailbox storage is not full
  • The senders have confirmed on their end that the emails were sent and marked as successfully delivered
  • Checked deleted emails folder and 'recover recently deleted emails'

I am concerned as this is the third sendor/vendor's password reset emails that I'm not receiving, I am getting locked out of multiple accounts due to this issue which is now becoming quite urgent.

What can be done to resolve this? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello Abi McD

I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when it affects password reset emails from multiple services.

Based on the information you've provided, it appears that the messages may be getting filtered before they reach your mailbox, rather than being moved to Junk or another folder, since you've already checked the common locations and mailbox rules.

Could you please clarify the following:

    1. Are you accessing this account through Outlook.com on the web, or through an email client such as Classic Outlook, New Outlook, a mobile app, or another mail program?
    2. Approximately when did this issue first start occurring?
    3. Have you noticed whether you are able to receive other emails from these same domains/vendors, or is it only the password reset messages that are missing?

In the meantime, if you are using Outlook.com on the web, please try the following:

1, Add one of the affected sender addresses (or domain if known) to "Safe senders and domains":

    • Go to Settings > "Mail" > "Junk email"
    • Under "Safe senders and domains", add the sender's email address or domain
    • Save the changes

2, Temporarily disable any custom rules that automatically move or delete messages, then request a new password reset email from one of the affected vendors.

3, Sign in to Outlook.com and review Settings > "Mail" > "Forwarding" to ensure no unexpected forwarding configuration is present.

Looking forward to your reply so we can continue from there. Thanks for your time and understanding.
