    Hi Thomas Reilly,

I understand that you would like to connect your earbuds to your laptop. The steps depend slightly on the earbud model, but if they are Bluetooth earbuds, please try the following:

    • Place the earbuds in pairing mode. This is commonly done by holding a button on the earbuds or charging case, but the exact method depends on the manufacturer.
    • On the laptop, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices and make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
    • Select Add device > Bluetooth, then select the earbuds from the list.

You can also refer to Microsoft’s official guide: Pair a Bluetooth device in Windows.

If the earbuds are not detected, temporarily turn off Bluetooth on any phone or other device previously connected to them, then restart pairing mode.

What is the brand and model of the earbuds, and do they appear in the laptop’s Bluetooth device list? Thank you so much for your understanding.

If these are Surface Earbuds, use Bluetooth pairing:

    1. Put the earbuds in the charging case.
    2. Press and hold the Pair button on the bottom of the case for 5 seconds.
    3. Wait for the case LED to flash white continuously. That means pairing mode is on.
    4. On the laptop:
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth > Surface Earbuds > Done
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth > Surface Earbuds > Done
    5. If a Connect notification appears on the PC, select it.

If this is the first time the case has been opened, the earbuds can enter pairing mode automatically.

If the earbuds do not connect later, put them back in the charging case, wait at least 15 seconds, then take them out again. Also make sure they are not already connected to another device.

To manage settings and updates, open the Surface app on the PC, select Surface Earbuds, then take the earbuds out of the case to connect.
