The choice of the method would depend on how many files you have and how often you need to update the list. There is a quick manual method for creating a static list and Power Automate for automatic updates.

    Method 1: The quick copy-paste

If you need a quick, static list of your files with working links, you can use the OneDrive web interface. Open OneDrive in your browser and navigate to the folder containing the files. Select the files you want to list by clicking the first file, holding Shift, and clicking the last file. Click the Copy link button in the top menu bar, then open your Excel spreadsheet and paste the contents using Ctrl + V.

Excel will automatically paste a vertical list of file names, with each name formatted as an active hyperlink pointing directly to the corresponding file in OneDrive.

Method 2: Power Automate (automatic updates)

If you want Excel to update automatically whenever a new file is added to a OneDrive folder, you can use Microsoft Power Automate, which is included in most Microsoft 365 accounts.

First, prepare your Excel spreadsheet by creating a table with two columns: File Name and Link. Select the cells and press Ctrl + T to convert them into an official Excel Table, then give the table a name. Save the Excel file in your OneDrive.

Next, open Power Automate through your Microsoft 365 dashboard and create an Automated cloud flow. Select the trigger When a file is created (OneDrive for Business) and specify the OneDrive folder you want to monitor. Add a new step and select the Excel action Add a row into a table. Choose your Excel file and the table you created, then map the columns using dynamic content. For File Name, select File name, and for Link, select Path or Link to item, depending on the available dynamic content.

Save and turn on the flow. From that point onward, whenever a new file is created in the monitored OneDrive folder, Power Automate will add a corresponding row to your Excel table with its name and link.
