Subject: Request for Refund Review - Order [moderator's note: PII removed]

Dear Microsoft Billing Support,

I am writing to request a review and refund of Order [moderator's note: PII removed]

On [moderator's note: PII removed], I was charged approximately $107 for a Microsoft 365 Individual subscription. Prior to or during this process, I redeemed a Microsoft 365 product key, and my Microsoft account now shows service through October 5, 2028. The subscription associated with the charge has already been canceled.

I have spent a considerable amount of time attempting to resolve this matter through Microsoft's online support channels, but I have been unable to obtain assistance with the billing issue. Frankly, I have invested far more time than should be necessary to address what appears to be a straightforward refund request.

Because my Microsoft 365 service is already covered through the redeemed product key, I believe the $107 charge should be reviewed and refunded.

I respectfully request:

  1. A review of Order [moderator's note: PII removed].
  2. A refund of the approximately $107 charge.
  3. Confirmation that my Microsoft 365 service remains active through October 5, 2028.

Thank you [moderator's note: PII removed]

For your privacy and security, I have covered the personal information included in your post. Please avoid sharing any personal or sensitive information publicly, such as serial numbers, order details, email addresses, phone numbers, or case-related information.

    Hello Melinda Snook,

I can understand how frustrating it must be to spend so much time using Microsoft’s online support channels.

Unfortunately, Microsoft Q&A is a public user-to-user forum. Moderators and contributors cannot access billing records, review orders, or issue refunds. Since the previous online support attempts did not resolve the matter, could you clarify which Microsoft online support channels you have contacted so far, and whether you were able to speak directly with a billing support agent?

If you have only tried the automated help options and have not yet reached an agent, please contact Microsoft Support, sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the charge, and select Microsoft 365 > Billing and subscriptions to request live chat or a callback.

If you have already contacted a billing agent, please let me know whether you received a case or reference number. You can provide that number during your next contact and ask the new agent to review the previous case history.

The billing agent will need to verify whether the approximately $107 charge is eligible for a refund and whether processing that refund would affect the subscription time added through the redeemed product key.

I know this isn't the news you were hoping for, but I wanted to make sure you got the most accurate information about your situation. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Contact Microsoft Billing Support now to review the already-cancelled charge and confirm that the redeemed product-key entitlement remains active through the displayed expiration date.

    Request the refund review

Microsoft Q&A is a public forum and cannot access billing records or process refunds. Because the subscription is already cancelled and the online channels did not resolve the issue:

    1. Open Contact Microsoft Support.
    2. Sign in with the same personal Microsoft account used for the charged subscription and product-key redemption.
    3. Enter Microsoft 365 billing refund and select Get Help.
    4. If the automated result does not resolve it, select Contact Support.
    5. Choose Microsoft 365 → Billing and subscriptions, then request live chat or a callback.
    6. Provide the agent with:
      • The order number shown on the receipt.
      • The charge date and amount.
      • Confirmation that the charged subscription has already been cancelled.
      • Proof of purchase or redemption for the product key.
      • A screenshot of Services & subscriptions showing the October 5, 2028 expiration date.
      • A request to confirm in writing that refunding the separate charge will not remove the product-key-funded subscription time.

Microsoft states that eligibility is determined during cancellation and that not every cancellation generates a refund. However, the most recent recurring charge is refundable when cancellation occurs within 30 days after payment, limited to one time per Microsoft account and subscription product. Initial purchases also generally have a 30-day refund window, subject to the stated conditions.[^1^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")

    Verify the subscription term

Before and after the billing review:

    1. Open Microsoft account → Services & subscriptions.
    2. Locate Microsoft 365 and record:
      • The plan name.
      • The displayed expiration date.
      • Whether the page says Turn on recurring billing.
    3. Save a screenshot or PDF for comparison after the refund is processed.

A redeemed Microsoft 365 product key adds subscription time; multiple keys can extend the duration, up to a documented maximum of five years. After successful redemption, the new expiration date appears on the account.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "How to renew your Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft Support")

If Turn on recurring billing is displayed, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not renew automatically.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft 365")

If Microsoft did not collect the payment

If Manage redirects to another retailer, or the receipt identifies Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Best Buy, or another seller, submit the refund request to that seller instead. Microsoft cannot refund a payment received by a third-party retailer.[^4^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Manage your Microsoft 365 subscription purchased through a third party | Microsoft Support")

Do not post the order number, receipt, payment details, product key, or account email publicly; provide them only through the authenticated support session.
