    Hi Bernardo Hees,

Are you using a personal Microsoft account or a work/business Microsoft 365 account?

For a personal account, you can add or update a card from Payment options. After adding a new card, remember to assign it to the subscription under Services & subscriptions, since adding the card alone does not change the card used for renewal.

For a work or business account, please check with your Microsoft 365 billing administrator, as standard users may not have permission to change payment methods. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Add the new credit card to your Microsoft account, then select it as the payment method for your Microsoft 365 subscription.

Add and assign the new card

    1. Open the Microsoft account Payment options page:
      https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments
    2. Sign in with the personal Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft 365.
    3. Select Add a new payment method.
    4. Enter the new card number, cardholder details, expiration date, security code, and billing address, then save it. The billing address should match the card issuer’s records. ^1^
    5. Open Services & subscriptions:
      https://account.microsoft.com/services
    6. Find Microsoft 365 and select Manage → Change how you pay.
    7. Select the new card. If it is not listed, choose Add a new way to pay and enter it there. [^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Change your Microsoft subscription payment method and options | Microsoft Support")

Adding a card to the account does not by itself change the card charged for the subscription; complete the Change how you pay step.

    If the option is missing

    • Past-due subscription: Select Pay now, choose or add the new card, and complete the payment. Gift cards, subscription cards, and Microsoft account balances cannot pay a past-due subscription. [^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Pay for a past-due Microsoft subscription | Microsoft Support")
    • Recurring billing is off: Change how you pay is unavailable because the current subscription has already been paid and will expire at the end of its term.
    • Prepaid subscription: Its payment method cannot be changed. Add the card to the account and use it to purchase a new subscription after the prepaid term expires.
    • Purchased through another retailer: The payment method must be managed through that third party rather than through Microsoft. ^4^

If the card is rejected, verify its billing details and ask the card issuer whether online or recurring transactions are blocked. Payment methods also vary by region; change the account region only if you have moved to another country for the long term. ^1^
